It's hard to miss The Trocadero, an iconic Birmingham pub with a history as colourful as its flamboyant gin-palace exterior.
Tucked away on Temple Street, our grade II listed local has been known as The Trocadero since 1912. Before that it was The Bodega wine bar, run by a real character called Henry Skinner. His presence is still felt (as our most active resident ghost). Pop in and we'll tell you a few tales about Henry over a pint and a plate of hearty food. Going right back, the building was originally a fire station - spot the stained-glass window where the firemen's pole used to be. Today, the sirens have been replaced with the buzz and chatter of thirsty Bullring shoppers and Brum's after-work crowd.
Great "local" in the heart of the city. Excellent attentive staff. Drinks and food are reasonably priced. Would recommend and will always revisit!!
Not a bad venue. The food is decent and service good. The only issue would be the seating layout. Could do with better seats.
We visited here yesterday, two adults and three children ranging from 5-12 years. We visited about lunchtime and ordered five meals and three desserts. We ordered on the app and got the food delivered to the table which was easier. We got a discount of around £4-5 which paid for one of the drinks we ordered. The food came quick and was high quality, especially the philly steak. Toilets are located downstairs and easy to get to the only issue is the toilets are quite dark near the stalls which may be difficult for those who have difficulty with their vision, however saying that there is toilets upstairs for such people or those who cannot use stairs such as those in a wheelchair. It was quite when we entered and getting busy when we left about 2pm. The staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was a positive one. I had no idea this place existed until yesterday but I am glad we found it instead of going to weatherspoons like we usually do. I will be sure to visit again.
Nice pub in the city centre. We had a drink and ate here. I had the steak pie and my partner had...I don't know...some burger with Mac on. We both enjoyed our meals. Nice interior...just a shame the interior tiles that would have been weren't preserved like the external ones.
Visited Birmingham for the day and this place was recommended by a couple of local council workers. Good food, nice decor, and we appreciated the quiet room at the back of the place. Would definitely return
