No thrills. Arrived for a birthday meal for my two teenagers. Nothing was overly great, nothing stuck out as such. What needs to improve is the moral and attitude of the staff. Literally every single one of them had a face like a slapped arse. Even the member of staff “welcoming” us as we arrived was as miserable as sin. Staff weren’t overly attentive l, just treated us more like cattle. Got us in, made sure the bill was paid and we left. When my daughters did try to engage with a member of staff to ask where the toilet was - the member of staff snapped at them and said “wait a minute, can’t you see I’m clearing the table”. So my daughters walked off and found the toilets themselves. It pretty much looked like they all hated their jobs and none of them wanted to be there.
Food very nice and hot! Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and my husband enjoyed his apple pie and custard. We were attended to by a lovely, pleasant young girl who was a credit to the team.
I have been in this pub, enjoying carvery and unlimited tea and coffee when I had a bit of time between appointments. I like places and buildings with lots of nooks, rooms and passages and that's why I liked it. The employees are nice and polite, but they don't bother you unnecessarily. If I would be in the area I'll definitely come back. I highly recommend it.
We didn't prebook but we were shown to a table in an adjoining room and given our own server,a young lad who was friendly and polite. He took our drinks order and our carvery order at our table. The turkey and the gammon were gorgeous as so was the mash potatoes. It soon got busy as there was a 50% off offer on but we weren't made to feel we had to rush after finishing our meals. Lovely pub,lovely staff and lovely food
The food and the staff were great. We really enjoyed the food, it was surprisingly really tasty considering they were catering for very large numbers. It was really busy and we booked a time slot, which was easy to do. We had to stand in a long queue for a very long period of time to get our food. It was really hot due to the food heaters. I think that it would be better if the staff had a list of time slots and tables, and called selection of customers to the carvery in order of time slot, to cut down the length of the queue and time standing in the queue. I would also like to pay for my meal before rather than after my meal.
