Food, drinks and price was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Decor really nice and fresh looking.
A good no frills place to go. I often eat here alone whenever I am home alone, as it's fairly well priced and fills me up. Always be sure to check for vouchers for either discounts or free deserts. Good quality food, portions of meat are determined by the time of day.
The one reason I go to Toby is for the Yorkshire puddings.. we went today and was faced with the following (see picture)... completely flat Yorkshire puddings, I have not seen anything like this from a specialist carvery in years, after all how hard is it to get Yorkshire puddings to rise. When I quizzed the chef I was told this was it, they were all coming out that way like it was normal. He was very dismissive of my comment and I can't say I was impressed.. I was not the only person who was not impressed.
Visited on a Sunday when it was quite busy with all ages dining. The carvery was busy and we waited around 5 mins to get our food, which I didn't mind as there was plenty of food stocked up and normally you would wait much longer for normal food to come from the kitchen. The carvery was very good and even had a different selection of gravies! The service was good, however we did end up paying at the till as the waitress didn't come back to us.
Do not go for breakfast. This morning we went as a family get together as we have not seen each other for years. The wait for the food to be refreshed took 30 minutes, on waiting the chef behind the counter mocked me for some unknown reason while I was talking with my dad, this chef then continued to make gestures at me through the kitchen window! Food was low quality and better at Morrisons. I will never return to this place for breakfast. However been before for carvery and it is better.
