We enjoyed a comfortable stay at Tigh An Eilean. The location is delightful, right across from the water. The service was very good, warm and welcoming. The restaurant, Coastal Kitchen, is the best we tried in Scotland...exceptional food fro dinner and breakfast. The rooms were warm and comfortable, though we found the bathtub/shower a bit tricky as the base was very slippery. A rubber bath mat might be a good idea for people who are not super agile.
Had a lovely meal two years ago. Returned last week hoping for the same but hugely disappointed 😞 We was certainly ripped off. My husband ordered pork belly which was certainly overpriced. It wouldn't have filled our 6 year old Grandson! I had Cajun chicken burger, a few chips a tiny bit of cheese and a gherkin rubbish! We should have complained but will never go again
Stayed for business but it felt truly like a holiday! Super cosy and very friendly owners. Comfy bed and the mist amazing food - not to mention the truly stunning location. I honestly did not want to leave.
Pros: the lovely young lad manning the hotel and waiting during breakfast and dinner makes this place very welcoming. Food is great and decent drinks too. Cons: room was in serious need of refurbishing. The bathroom especially. The peacefulness at night makes up for the tiredness of the room but I hope the owner puts some money back into their business and refurbishes the rooms, they’re in desperate need of it. We stayed for 3 nights and room wasn’t serviced once.
Amazing location. Cozy, friendly, comfortable informal family owned hotel. Nothing too fancy but a welcome relief from corporate chains and over presented "Scottish country hotels". Gets the balance right and creates an atmosphere that suits it's remote location.
