We arrived early to sit on a bench for 45 minutes whilst the previous occupants of our scheduled table sat and talked for nearly an hour after their departure time. As a result, we ended up on a table which was inadequate for our group size and all had to sit against walls, or in the passage of staff fetching/carrying food and only had the ability to partially place our feet under the table. We made the staff aware that we were unhappy and they shrugged this off and said they were unable to help. This was a pre-booked table to celebrate a joint birthday and we feel that our seating fell well below standard on this occasion, so much so, that we were as quick as we could eating our mains and left without puddings which we had intended to treat ourselves to! The food was ok, however, having said that, the plate was swamped in gravy which appeared to disguise the lack of beef as I had only two very small pieces. I do not think I shall be rebooking which is a shame, as the atmosphere and surroundings appeared promising on arrival

Had a lovely Sunday lunch for my grandparents anniversary. Good and service were very excellent! We had to ask how they cooked the cauliflower as it was very nicely done.

Nice pub and friendly staff. Visited with a group of 10 people at lunch for a chip butty but the service was so SLOW we had a drink and left. Regulars I felt were served first and there were no menus on the tables, you had to look on the walls across other people drinking which is rather rude. There is a restroom, parking and outside seating for summer days. As a little bit of history there is a small historical village jail across from the pub which is worth a look at

I've driven by a few times before and it's always looked busy. Popped in today without booking, there wasn't a table available in the restaurant, but we're welcome to sit in the bar area or garden. I'd advise booking if you knew you were going! Food was amazing, can't rate it highly enough. Very reasonably priced too for saying the quality of it all. Would recommend to anyone in the area!

We came off the motorway and stopped here for lunch, and it was ace. Really delicious fillet of beef. My wife's venison suet pudding looked even nicer! Was really impressed with the service and welcome.
