Loved this place when it was the Melody Rooms, it was for many of us our time, this place and the Gala ,good nite clubs, as for it being the Talk, gave it a look a couple times but sorry to say not where I wanna be anymore, maybe it's my age and what I remember what it was like in my youth very early 70s it was a good place when Howard Platt was DJ ing, lots of old Reggae, Motown and classic soul sounds, and some great old groups from that era as well as a few old established ones, remember bumping into Dandy Livingstone as he came down the stairs at the back of the old stage and chatting with him briefly, my partner likes her 80s nite so she frequents the place with her sister so leave her to it for that.
The Talk was a great venue and a real surprise. Much larger inside than it appears. Such a shame it closes it's doors for good in 1 months time. Really had a good night there. Soul & Tamala Motown evening!
NEVER EVER EVER THROW AN EVENT HERE Security are bullies. Will throw out any drunk people. They didn't let us put the volume up to a normal level because neighbours *might* complain. I know this area and it's pretty much all businesses. The capacity here is 140 so you'll only break even if you get the place FULL at £5 each, which is difficult at a venue outside of the city centre. The bar isn't cheap either. £5 for any pint. Really just don't bother.
Really expensive drinks and rude bar staff. Told us if we didn't like the prices we should go somewhere else. Didn't like the attitude. The venue is nice looking but the staff definitely put me off from returning.
Went to the 80's night. Had a brilliant time, took us right back with loads of top songs. Good atmosphere, drinks reasonably priced, bar staff quick and friendly. Clean up staff were on it!! Impressed!!!
