About us

The Talbot Arms was first mentioned in 1818, when Ralph Lowe was the publican, though it is thought our history could predate even this time. Close to the beautiful Biddulph Grange Gardens, we sit in the perfect location to offer an escape from hectic modern life, allowing guests to relax in a traditional setting with great food and drink.

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most.

Booked here for a birthday meal for my mum as she had been before and wanted to return. However despite several previous visits this one was a disappointing. It was a special occasion but they couldn’t even honour a complimentary cocktail from the vintage inn loyalty scheme, no special treatment for a birthday celebration. It’s a shame as before this experience it was one of our fave places. The food is very good, decor is nice, it’s dog friendly in areas but the service let it down. It is also a bit bright in the restaurant could do with more cosy lighting. I would possibly return but not to celebrate a special occasion.

An absolute fantastic visit on a Friday afternoon, food was excellent and the service was great. Would highly recommend. Beautiful, tidy place with a nice log fire.

Thank you for a great New Year’s Eve! Absolutely a faultless meal, service and great atmosphere. The food was just a yummy experience from start to finish with big portions. They fit us in last minute due to us being let down in another place, and we were very welcomed. It was our first time and we didn’t know what to expect, however we will definitely be back for other occasions. Prices very good too, a vast selection of drinks and cocktails, plenty of parking, and cozy seats, with fire lit.

Lovely old fashioned country style inn beside Biddulph Grange. Warm welcome for walkers with muddy boots and dogs with muddy paws. There are dog bowls and treats freely available too. The pub has a lovely ambience and good coffee. Popped in today just to remind myself how good it is AND it really was!

Could not fault our first visit to the Talbot. Great location and lots of seating outside for those sunny days. Just up from Biddulph Grange and other local walks. The pub is dog friendly too so enjoy a nice meal or drink after a walk with your furry friend. There is a canine cuisine too 😁 Lots of parking available. The food was really good for a reasonable price and the staff were really nice as well. We will be visiting again.
