We went for a sunday lunch with my folks. They say it's always busy, called in the morning to see if a table available for 4, but unfortunately they were full. Just as my mum was explaining this, she got a call to say there had been a cancellation and a table available at 1.30, good news and great service. Top class Sunday lunch in great settings and attentive,but not over baring staff.
These guys used to have the Plough in Alvescot. We had an amazing meal there last year,so we thought we'd follow them to The Talbot Inn. Well they didn't disappoint. The meal was amazing. The taste and quality of the food was unbelievable. Every mouthful was a total delight. The service was excellent. The staff are so friendly and very good at their jobs. I will definitely be going there again and not just for the Christmas meal. I would recommend The Talbot Inn 100%.
Just had my works Christmas party, well what an absolutely amazing time we all had.. everyone commented on how amazing the food was the staff are super efficient, friendly and welcoming.. would highly recommend anyone to come here for a meal. We will definitely be returning.
These fine folks moved lock, stock & barrel from Alvescott to here and they've done a fabulous job. They are all so welcoming and the service, food and outright friendliness hasn't changed a bit - just the location. The whole team are great. The Talbot is easy enough to get to, has a reasonable amount of parking and has a bus stop right next to it making it easily accessible for the bus if no-one wants to drive home. The menu is just the right size so that it's not overwhelming but there's a great selection of food, plus there's daily specials: usually a fish dish, a burger, a pie and a crumble of the day. You want an excellent aged sirloin burger for a very fair price? Go here and they'll do it 5 different ways for you, so tasty. I love Five Guys & Honest Burger but you get more bang for your buck here. Gluten free, vegan or vegetarian? They'll fix you up something wonderful, especially if you give them some notice. Or they'll just tell you what you can have from the menu & how it can be changed if needs be.
Collectively I’ve stayed here for circa 3 months. In that time I had not experienced a bad meal or poor service. A very well run establishment with an excellent team. Having traveled extensively in this country and abroad for the last 12 years, one has come to know what makes a good establishment. A debt of gratitude is owed to the staff as they made me feel most welcome. Suffice to say the food was Superb, well done all.

The Jolly Sportsman is located in the heart of the pretty Oxfordshire village of Eynsham, near to the a40, and on an excellent bus route in between Oxford and Witney.
