The Swan Hotel at Alton, is one of our much-loved properties. So expect home-from-home comfort, a warm welcome, great hospitality, and full hotel service. We have some dog-friendly rooms too.
The charming Swan Hotel became a coaching inn in 1777. Set in the old market town of Alton, it’s well known for visits from famous local residents or passers-by down the years, including author Jane Austen and naturalist Gilbert White. We have 46 bedrooms, all tastefully furnished and perfect for relaxing and unwinding after a busy day. All blend contemporary décor with original features, and have a refurbished private bathroom, plus all the mod cons you need.
This is a pet friendly hotel. There is limited availability on our rooms for pets and are offered on a first come, first served basis. All bookings with pets must be pre-booked - please contact the hotel directly or call 0345 608 6040 to check availability and to complete your booking.
We choose a different venue every week end which gives we three friends choice and variation. This Sunday at the Swan was just right we could see the staff were pushed and it was nice to see nznsgemfnt helping out. The food..service..price ambience were sport but COLD PLATES..which meant we leave with that mistake in our minds not the quality of the food etc. Please..we will return but the plates need to be at least warm which mean we can take longer with our meal and possibly order more drinks. Don't insult the hard work in preparing the food by serving it on very cold plates. We will return.
We have just had a lovely stay at the Swan in Alton. The hotel is in a very good location for the town. Room 38 had a very comfy bed and a good shower. The artwork was a bit un-nerving though as the owl felt very judgemental ! Breakfast, served by Bethany, was delicious! She was really lovely and welcoming and looked after us extremely well.
We came to The Swan on NYE and had a great stay. The food was lovely and the service was spot on. We stayed in a lovely clean room which had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming especially Jamie and Mandy who made our stay very comfortable.
Lovely place and lovely atmosphere! Great service, super attentive polite and friendly staff (thanks Bethany!). The food was 10/10 and we were pleasantly surprised with our brownie Sunday, it was presented beautifully!! Thanks :)
The food was lovely and our waitress was lovely. Food was delivered in a reasonable time and manner, but I had to wait 40 minutes for a coffee! Senior manager gave a totally flippant comment, it's coming your waitress will sort? Firstly as a Senior manager couldn't she see that it was under staffed and assist her staff. Secondly just apologise and sort herself?
