We’re delighted to announce The Bray is now under new, independent family management with an amazing head chef and a team of professional, friendly staff to ensure our guests receive our very best attention.
We’re all about keeping things local and go out of our way to source as many ingredients as we can from the surrounding area – Silent Pool Gin, locally baked bread, poultry and game, Surrey Hills ales, Albury vineyards revered sparkling wine to name but just a few!
We serve delicious, freshly prepared food all day every day, perfect for a snack, sandwich, business lunch or of course dinner. Alongside our main menu, with dishes which change by season and we feature a weekday 2 or 3 course set menu from lunchtime into the evening. Our Sunday roast lunches are already becoming legendary! Keep an eye out for afternoon tea, featured gins and lots more…
Enjoy dining ‘al fresco’ on sunny days and relax in our garden and decked seating area, perfect for taking in the views of the Surrey Hills or cosy up beside the log burning fire when it’s chilly.
We are open daily from 11am for fresh ground coffee, herbal teas, light snacks and early drinks, right the way through to 11pm. The kitchen is open all day everyday til 10pm (9pm Sundays).
Cask condition ales, a range of chilled lagers and selected wines from around the world sit comfortably alongside a big range of non alcoholic drinks. Look out for featured cocktails shaken and stirred throughout the week!
We love families and a Kids menu is available everyday; board games and sketchers are always close by to keep the littles entertained
‘’Friendly dogs’’ are always welcome!!
Pop in when out walking or cycling the beautiful Surrey Hills or just use us as a base – start with coffee and finish (after the marathon!) with a well earned sticky toffee pud! There’s a big customer car park adjacent to our garden.

Shere is a lovely, but often crowded, Surrey village between Guildford and Dorking. As everyone knows, it's where scenes of the movie Holiday were filmed. The William Bray pub is a beautiful, large and ideal place to have a meal and or drinks. The food is great! So is the hospitality of the staff, who are very attentive. The menu selection is good and varied. My wife and I chose the Ocean sharing board, which was fantastic and more than enough for 2 people. I highly recommend this eating and drinking venue.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Pricewise not the cheapest pub for sure, but then you get what you pay for. Highly recommended! 👊
Had early dinner with a friend on a Sunday. Very lovely atmosphere in the Outdoor area. Food arrived promptly. Well cooked. Fish was very fresh. ordered panacottta as desert tasty but had more like a yogurt consistency. Everything good though. A bit pricey but you pay for good food, good service and lovely atmosphere. I do recommend it!
An absolutely beautiful pub in Shere. Love the interior decoration. There are 3-4 separate place to sit inside as well as outdoor seating. Staff is extremely friendly and happy to help out even when they are super busy. Food quality is great and the menu has a lot to choose from. Again I must say LOVE the interior decoration. Great pub food with lovely, friendly service. The pub is large and has separate dining areas. Good for small and large groups. The food is great. Sunday lunch was fantastic. Perfectly tender beef and great extras. Really great lunch if you’re in the area.
