Although I live close by I hadn’t been in for a very long time. My son and I visited for a couple of beers and were pleasantly surprised to see how full it was (being January), and the friendly atmosphere. Obviously the local for many of the people there. I suspect we will return on my next visit.
Visited this pub on a Saturday evening, the place is nice and serves the most of the drinks you would want. We went there bcoz of the Indian food, the restaurant is run by Nepali chef of ownership, I guess. Their menu is quite extensive, for starters we ordered, Chicken Tikka Fried Chilli, which was okay, and a tandori mixed grilled platter, which nothing was grilled but just platting meat pieces and chicken pieces cooked from a curry and put together. For Mains, we ordered Mutton Rogan Gosh, Madras Chicken, Dal (lentil) with rice, Butter chicken and Naan, which was okay nothing wow but the Butter chicken, was nothing close to anything, just cooked in thick coconut paste, with cream. Rather call it Cream of Coconut Chicken. Very disappointing, if you have eaten the authentic butter chicken. I don't recommend this at all. PS. I would always click pictures of food I eat but I didn't even bother for this.
By far the best Indian food in Guildford. Tried a few and they are nowhere as good as this one. Would highly recommend food is delicious very good portions and reasonably priced. Would recommend Rogan Josh, Jalfreizi, Dopiaza, Tikà Byriani, Bhuna, Tika Masala, Garlic Naan and of course the Onion Bhajis
It's not the most attractive of pubs, but don't be put off. It's a great place to stop for curry or beer.
Came for the curry evening with all of my family and loved it. It’s £12 for a curry, rice or naan and a drink (soft drink, wine or beer). Exceptional value for Guildford. The food was amazing with very generous portions, drinks were on point and service was friendly. Good atmosphere with several football matches being televised on the big screens. Clearly a favourite with the locals and the uni crowd which is great - everyone was happily mingling with each other. It’s great to see a local pub doing so well on a Tuesday night! Will definitely be back.
