We visited The Star for the first time today for Sunday lunch and it was lovely. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. We all had pies and they were delicious. The pastry was so light and crumbly and not a bit of fat on the meat. Along with the pie there is roast and mash potato, stuffing and vegetables. The puddings were really good too. A very filling, tasty meal. We will definitely return.
Nothing special. Distinctly slow service. We were offered the snug, and booked the snug, upon arrival told it was reserved for someone else, and to be ushered to another table. Even tho in the 2 odd hours we were there for no one to arrive. The waitress wouldn’t even take a food order before another table was served their food from the kitchen. Adding an additional 1/2 wait before we could even order. Pie was average at best, chips were nothing fancy, and microwaved desert….including the ice cream. The place itself is lovely to look at, and it was fun watching the ducks bobbing on the pond. The shandy was nice, and they were lovely to the hound we brought with us, and gave him a biscuit or two! Would I go back? No. Especially not for 17 quid (apologies 16.95) pie, watery gravy and undercooked roast veg. Maybe I should have had the burger?
Pre Christmas visit with friends to have a meal and a few drinks. Excellent pie, lovely sponge pudding and lovely Old Mill beers. Nicely furnished, toasty open fires and friendly locals & staff to boot. Exactly what a good village pub should be.
Went for Sunday dinner. Really lovely pub good service. Selection of starters mains and puddings. Had the roast beef, really big portions so be prepared!. Good quality beef and a side of cauli cheese. Also have 0% alcohol free beer available
Came for an evening meal as a fairly large group (9), the welcome was really friendly. We had a drink at the bar and it was very competitively priced, also a good selection of beers, spirits and also non alcoholic beers. When we sat down the orders were taken promptly and very courteously. A very good menu of good food, well cooked and sourced from local area. I ordered the common and eggs with pineapple, it was very good size and the chips were lovely. The checkback was polite and timely manner the staff did not dwell around. The rest of the food around the group all looked great and 1 member ordered a steak that looked cooked superbly. All portions were of a very good side even bordering generous. The bill was exceptionally good value. Would I recommend this place yes and I will bring my family back to sample it. Thank you
