Room was large, well equipped and furnished. Hotel team were friendly and helpful. Bed was huge and super comfy and I slept like a log.

Oh dear! Stay clear of this place. Our room was cold, the bar wasn't open at all during our stay, the service for our meals was very poor and they forgot about us so we eventually got our meal at 8.30 pm. Out table was booked for 7 pm. The worst thing is that we paid through Travel zoo and the hotel charged us again the day before we arrived. We filled out a refund form before we left but no refund had been given. They will not answer phone calls or reply to my numerous emails. No sign of my money back so basically they are stealing from customers. Absolutely disgusting customer service and the staff really do need some proper training. I definitely do not recommend this hotel. EDIT. A few weeks after I made this review I did eventually get a refund after contacting Travelzoo who acted on my behalf and gave the hotel a good shove! But I did get my refund thankfully.

We chose Stanton Manor at random during a spontaneous trip west from London. We had spent the previous night in Oxford and needed somewhere to stay. Found this place online and booked as it was close to Castle Combe which was our agenda for the next day. Really liked it. Stupid cheap, but we were there between xmas and new year so perhaps that is low season. While there we did the maths and if we just stayed there year round it worked out cheaper than our London flat, substantially so when you take into consideration all included bills and breakfast. Still tempted by that idea as the bar downstairs is cheaper than my london locals too. Great service, great rooms. Great layout and internal vibe. If I had to criticise something i would say that my chicken at dinner was quite dry, which was disappointing because the food overall was spot on. Good staff, great low pressure place to spend time. We quite liked it so next time we're back out that way, this is probably where we will stay. Would definitely recommend to friends.

It was supposed to be a surprise anniversary dinner. unfortunately, we were constantly reminded that we were with Groupon - it was literally mentioned several times, which was awkward. We made reservation on Saturday. When we arrived, it turned out that the restaurant was closed. No one contacted us, we didn't even have any missed calls. Next we made a reservation for Sunday, where a different menu was available. When we arrived again we were informed that this was a deal from Groupon. Ultimately, it turned out that the discount was the same as the normal price for a 3-course dinner. Food was very good. We often visit various types of restaurants and the taste of the dishes was really high. Unfortunately, the service and situations with the closed restaurant left an unpleasant experience.

Beautiful hotel in stunning location and that is the reason it has 1star. I booked for afternoon tea for 4 after looking at google rating and couldn't have been more disappointed. Its was the worse service I've ever had the waiter was beyond rude. We turned up for a 1pm reservation and were the only people there, we were shown into a beautiful dining room and asked what tea we would like to accompany the food. He returned promptly with teapots of steaming tea and cups then went back to the kitchen for the food, we had at ask repeatedly for saucers, sugar( 3teaspoons for the table) which came one at a time at great effort!! When I asked for milk he said milk I don't think so we have run out! Now the food, all the sandwiches were made from top slice of cheap white stale bread and a bottom slice of multi grain. Ham, cucumber, egg and lastly some very pasty salmon make up the finger collection. Middle tier of 'homemade cakes'! Undercooked/raw carrot cake, stale chocolate brownie, pasty bland bakewell and the only thing in the whole afternoon that was pleasant a macaron. The cold solid hockey puck scones speak for themselves. Safe to say I would give the whole place a miss until its under new management and staff.
