About us

Whether you’re stopping by for a laid-back drink at the bar, some great-value pub grub or all-you-can-eat breakfasts in Staffordshire, you’ll love visiting The Stanhope Arms. Our friendly team will go above and beyond to make your meal special, whatever the occasion. Fun fact – our listed building was actually once part of the Earl of Carnarvon's estate and has a rich history in the local area! We love supporting our community and good causes too, which is why we’re always fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital and often donate raffle prizes to local charities.

Our location

You’ll find us just a five-minute drive away from scenic Stapenhill Gardens and the River Trent – an ideal spot for a relaxing afternoon. Other Burton-on-Trent attractions are right on our doorstep too! Alton Towers theme park is just a 45-minute drive away – and one of the most popular places to visit in Staffordshire – while history buffs won’t want to miss a trip to Calke Abbey.

Why we love Burton-on-Trent

This market town is bursting with fun activities for scenery lovers and families alike! Beacon Park and Branston Water Park are great outdoor attractions to explore, as is the Derby Arboretum – famous for the UK’s first publicly owned park! After getting a taste of local history at the Claymills Victorian Pumping Station or spending days out with the kids in Staffordshire at Alton Towers or CONKERS, our Burton-on-Trent restaurant will be waiting to welcome you for some great-value pub grub.

Came as a solo dinner, had an upgraded mixed grill, cooked perfectly, and a sticky toffee pudding. Sam is a brilliant chef, the waitress Laura was very welcoming and friendly. will come again. 😀

3 meals ordered including mixed grill and sirloin steak. Long wait and Onion rings stone cold and burnt. Chips on all meals were cold, peas steak and tomatoes all cold. Rancid oil smell on chips and onion rings. No checkback at all. Definitely never going back ever! Latte weren't bad but not exactly hot. Now we know why place was empty.

Lovely place to go for a quiet drink. We were welcomed with a smile by Laura who served us and brought our little boy some crayons and paper to keep him occupied. Nice enclosed garden area at the rear with seating

There was no one in when we walked in and after dining here we know why. The food was awful and rotten and the service wasn’t any better apart from one waitress. If your looking for an edible meal don’t come in here
