Dating from 1885 Stalybridge Buffet Bar is one of the few remaining Victorian station buffet bars. Voted one of the best railway station pubs in the world. Real ale and craft beer station bar.
Step back in time and visit one of the very few remaining Victorian station buffet bars. Great beers in unique surroundings.
Dating from 1885 the Staylbridge Buffet Bar has retained the original marble-topped bar, back fittings and the welcoming fire. A dozen years ago it was extended and included the 1st class ladies waiting room with its ornate ceiling, keeping all original features. It’s a veritable museum with photographs of the station in it’s heyday, railway and other memorabilia.
Situated on Platform 4 of Stalybridge Station, the buffet bar is a multi-award winning pub with a fine reputation for service, atmosphere and of course great drinks. Also part of the Transpennine Real Ale Trail.

At £10.95 a pint, the Vocation Black Forest gateaux was a bit expensive but it was 10%, had to make sure it was worth it so had another pint of it, as well as a couple of others.
Excellent, cosy and welcoming bar - an ideal place to call into on your way home or as a destination in its own right. Selection of beers was great, music selection eclectic and food looked great, although I didn't sample.
a big step back in time to the beer on the platform concept that is no longer in York or King's Cross but is still very much alive in Stalybridge and Huddersfield. Great selection of real ales, a real fire and warm - sizeable - pork scratchings !
It’s Belgian Xmas Ale time - A couple of fruit beers plus the ever popular St Bernardus Christmas Ale all on draft compliment the 10 ales on cask. Never a dull moment here but the Belgian beers are in limited supply so fill your boots while you can.
Iconic multi room real ale pub on Stalybridge rail station. Many real ales, due to train times only managed two halves, don't miss the last train ! Pub stuffed full of railwayana as you would expect. 🍺🍺👍👍
