19/01/2014 WHAT a tasty meal (Between 1pm and 3pm sundays)
    • 4.0
    — Visited the Miners Rest at Chasetown today. When we arrived the dining room was almost full and everyone sitting chatting waiting for carvery to start. ( We ALMOST turned round and went out) SO glad we didn't as within minutes an orderly queue formed and everyone was served incredibly quickly. There was Beef and Turkey, yorkshire pudding and the most amazing stuffing i have ever had. We helped ourselves to as much veg as we wanted and sat down to THE most amazing tasting carvery ever. Best sunday lunch we have had for a long time. It was just like you would cook at home. Usually lots of venues are very mean with the amount of meat they give you and as I like meat it puts me off visiting again, but i have NEVER been given as much meat as I had today.(Also it melted in your mouth) The manager visited all the tables and asked if everything was ok and was very friendly. THANK YOU it was fantastic!!

    20/08/2013 A disaster.
    • 3.0
    — After my first visit this weekend i found this lively weekend pub somewhat overshadowed by drunken, foul mouthed, young yobs with no manners and even less respect. No proper food available, toilets swimming with urine, toilet paper all over the floor, smoking area borders onto the local abbatoir so you can hear the cries of the distraught animals due for slaughter-delightful? I think not. Recent makeover by the look of it but not very warm and inviting. Don't take your missus here for a 'cosy night out for two' Awful place, i would not recommend it

    29/04/2013 A lively pub on a weekend

    — After my first visit to the victoria i found it quite disappointing after reading some reviews. If young lager louts ,bad language, after hours drinking and belonging to an exclusive clique are your thing then this pub is for you. Don't expect a gourmet meal here, just crisps and snacks. Not a cosy pub and not a place i would want to frequent. It looks as if it's had a recent makeover which is probably its best feature.

23/04/2013 A good lively pub on the whole especially weekends

    — Majority of the locals are ok, however, the biggest drawback with the victoria is that it tends to attract a group of twenty somethings some of which seem to have a general lack of respect for the older eneration. The pub may benefit from a proper home cooked food menu but it is more of a drinkers pub with an atmosphere to match. There is usually live football shown and a decent pool table. The recent landlord Simon Bebb has really turned the place around to what it once was.
