Just yards from the A61, lies this somewhat hidden genuine free house, themed to suit its location by the closed branch of the Aire and Calder and with memorabilia of the original Oakwell brewery. The last cask of their famous Barnsley Bitter was consumed here in 1977. Lively men's and women's pool and darts are successfully represented in local leagues. A concert room, available for hire, also hosts occasional live folk music. Three regularly changing beers are always from Local micro breweries. No food available from restaurant.
Great pub with friendly atmosphere always made welcome
First time been would go again staff friendly nice place
Went for a psychic night, Quaint little pub, great atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Cash only too! Wahoo!
Nice Sunday afternoon spent watching a live band. Very well kept real ale on offer as well which is always a bonus.
The food here is always amazing. Freshly cooked, huge portions. Very reasonably priced - and the menu has loads of choice. Desserts are lovely - choices again are enough to please anyone. Don't expect a refurbished up to date pub - but if you want reasonable priced great food then this is the place. Staff are always lovely and welcoming
