The Blue Anchor Inn was one of the first pubs in South Wales to produce quality bar meals back in the 1980's. Since then we have gone from strength to strength, winning awards including the South Wales Food Pub of the year for 5 years, 2016/17, 2013, 2011
We are Egon Ronay recommended and are included in the Michelin Eating out in Pubs guide since 2007 (the only South Wales entry in the guide), as well as the AA Pub Guide 2012, where we appear as Pick of the Pubs for the Vale of Glamorgan.
We opened our locally renowned restaurant, which seats up to 80 diners, in the early 1990’s. Since then we have been able to provide our customers with extremely popular Sunday lunches (booking usually essential) as well as our extensive and varied menus on Mondays to Saturdays (lunchtimes and evenings). Our wine list features quality, affordable, wines from around the world.
The Blue Anchor offers the choice of eating in our Restaurant or, more informally, downstairs in the bar. Wherever you choose to eat, our menus all have at their heart locally grown or reared produce, prepared to the highest standards by our expert team of chefs. Our team are specialists in producing quality, locally sourced and innovative dishes with an international flavour, as well as more traditional Welsh favourites. They are constantly looking to develop new and exciting dishes for our loyal customers.

The Blue Anchor Inn is a traditional pub with a wide range of beers and ales both bottled and on tap. I've been here a few times with my family and I think the food is brilliant. This time around my mother had the Thai Green Curry and I had the Roast Pork. The Pork was fantastic and I really loved how crispy the crackling was, I'd highly recommend it to anyone that loves cracking as much as I do. The Inn is dog friendly however dogs are only welcome either outside or in the bar area. We came in while it was -4°c outside into a warm restaurant with a fire, which was a nice touch. An enjoyable experience and will be back again soon.
Great place but be prepared to duck a lot! Lovely staff, great food!
Highly recommended to us by staff at the Gilestone Manor. It did not disappoint. The staff at the Anchor managed to accommodate us and our little dog at relatively late notice. The pub was busy with most covers taken. There was a wait for orders to be taken and food to arrive, but hey, all good things come to those that wait and boy was it good. 4 of us, 3 different choices, all extremely well presented and tasty. Similarly, when the desserts arrived, artistically presented and extremely unctuous. Great and appropriately attentive staff. A wonderful evening at a very reasonable price. Top, top nosh!
Thatched roof, II-Grade listed, one of the most charming, and one of the oldest Pubs (XIV century) in Wales. Traditional, very medieval style ambience with few fireplaces. Great 🍻 and... Probably same level of food but unfortunately didn't have a time to try anything this time (revisit must be done!)
We had an amazing time at the Blue Anchor Inn. A real Gem! Awesome food & very professional, friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. We are members of Brit Stop and stayed in their carpark (which is opposite the pub) in our camper overnight. The pub itself is beautiful, quirky with nooks and cosy corners, some tiny doorways, and even a little tunnel to get through to the dining area. It has an outside seating area & the facilities were lovely and clean. Our meals were top class and the sticky toffee pudding was the best we have ever had. Thank you. We will be back when we next come to Wales.
