This pub is named after Chorley’s most celebrated son. Sir Henry Tate began his working life as a grocer, made a fortune from sugar-refining and left his collection of paintings to the nation. He also funded the building of the Tate Gallery.

Rather chaotic behind the bar, resulting in a lengthy wait. I had the Caledonia burger with a very good IPA. The burger was okay, but the whisky sauce was cooler than tepid. Onion rings and chips were fine. Quite an impressive selection of ales tempting any real ale enthusiasts.
Good value with the food and drink offers, good service too. Have called a few times over the past few months, it's always been busy but that tells you they're doing something right. Always a good choice of beer too.
Visited for coffee late afternoon & evening / night time for few pints of cask ,guest ale never eaten there but kitchen busy & seems few issues there. Bar staff young, polite, friendly, helpful. Commercial DJ Saturday nights regularly. Good prices generally. Managed well including security staff who make their presence known without intimidation or arrogance; they are polite, friendly & capable. Good night out in a modern pub setting for all age groups.
Jorvic and Madge decided to visit Booths in Chorley so I decided to pop into Spoons next door for an early pint. A typical Spoons layout but I'll give them 5* for the quality and range of their real ales. Had a Butcombe brewery seasonal beer for £2.55 less 50p with a CAMRA voucher. Chris Moose, a 4.1% ale. Excellent. Very pleasant visit. There is a second bar upstairs with more limited drinks selection.
It is what it is. Reasonably placed, reasonably priced pub in the middle of town. Ordered via the app. First round of drinks arrived quickly and ice cold. Food arrived shortly after and was freshly made, cooked and as described. Good portions and well priced. Ordered a second round and deserts and both came really quickly. Fruit was fresh and good portion sizes. All in very much improved from last time we visited despite it being busy on a Thursday early evening. Staff seemed happy to help and made sure we got our orders quickly. 👌

A tiny bar housed in a market stall, this is certainly the smallest pub in the branch area. Outside seating is available during warmer weather and drinkers often spill over into the market area.

Recently reopened and refurbished with a change of name, this is a smart town centre pub and a great addition to the growing real ale scene in Chorley.
