The pub is a genuine treasure that dates back to 1762. As a Grade II listed building, it still retains its picture postcard appearance, which is the embodiment of Old English style. This is a pub that has a wealth of character within its old wooden beams. A detailed history of the place is actually unknown and undocumented. We have relied upon the local history in Romford to give us some clues and some background albeit slightly sketchy. In our opinion the lack of information actually adds to the character of the building and the mysteries of the stories it holds.
Met my wife here 7yrs ago and we occasionally pop in for a meal. This was one of the best dining out experiences I can remember ever. Polite friendly servers and lovely food.
First time visiting this week. Food, drink, and service all 10/10. Will definitely come back here
Had a great time celebrating my birthday on a DJ night, great mix of music and an excellent live singer. DJ had everyone up dancing, had a blast.
Had a reunion here. Ordered platers etc and at least 20 people attended. Should imagine reasonable profit. The young blond girl behind the bar had the worst attitude I think I have ever experienced. Sarcastic, inappropriate. Clearly she doesn’t need custom. Will never return to what used to be a place I enjoyed. Try the Archers. There nice to you.
Went for lunch with a friend. Staff is extremely welcoming, kind, and friendly. lovely pub, clean and well maintained. The food was fresh, salad, beautiful and crisp, but the homemade lasagne was very disappointing. Just mince with a sheet of pasta on top and cheese. No pasta sauces in the dish, very bland.
