We have a very large three tiered beer garden incorporating a children’s play area with views over the Gorge and River Severn.
Had a great meal with excellent atmosphere and also excellent service, will be going again very soon.
This was our first and probably our last visit to this place. The staff were friendly and welcoming and it is obviously very popular with local people. However, the meals we ordered were very disappointing. We both ordered the 'Sizzlers' meals. My husband's order when it came out was wrong, and they gladly exchanged it. We were disappointed with the amount of meat in the meal but there was just too much salt which overrode the flavours of the sauces. The chips were crisp but tasted very greasy, whist the rice was bland and not well cooked. Overall, I couldn't really recommend this place based on this visit.
I stayed here during a business trip and on the day of the day before checking in received an email explaining the pub was closed and details for accessing a lock box to retrieve the keys to my room. The next day the pub was also closed so I couldn't get breakfast or a coffee. This was not explained prior to booking and if it was I would have stayed somewhere else. The room was clean and tidy but there is a damp smell to the room which is masked by an automatic air freshener that dispenses perfume every 30 mins. This also makes it impossible to sleep. I would not stay here again based on the current setup.
Fantastic pub/restaurant. All the staff in good humour. They had run out of Creme Brulee by the time we wanted dessert course which upset the Mrs, but landlord soon put her in her place... just jesting ... the atmosphere was perfect and food was great. We weren't staying in it as a hotel but might keep it in mind as a place to stay if visiting the same area in the future.
We turned up Sunday lunchtime on bikes hopeful that we would be able to eat here but aware that it was busy. They found us a table, served us great beer and we had a very tasty lamb wrap with top notch roasties. Good price too. Excellent service all round.
