Situated in the delightful village of Escomb, overlooking the famous Saxon Church in the heart of Wear Valley, this 18th century inn offers a pub, dining areas, eleven en-suite rooms and outdoor seating looking out towards the church and hills beyond. Our aim is simple. To provide great beer, good food and company along with lovely, clean and comfy rooms. But more than that, you’ll be made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive.
Superb all round. The rooms are very comfy and clean, with a great shower. The staff are really friendly and are great. The shop is superb and excellent value you for money. This is my favourite hotel to stay in England. Perfect hotel and restaurant.
What can I say.....this place is amazing and the staff are unreal. So kind and friendly had a great laugh with them all. The food was fabulous breakfast to die for especially after a heavy night on the beer. The room was lovely and clean nice and modern. I can't say enough good things about the Saxon Inn, next time I travel up north this will be where I'm staying. Thank you so much to all the staff

Stayed here for 1 night . Food was excellent and the room was spotless and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend and stay again .
Used for a two night stay to explore the beautiful area nearby. This is a very nice pub/hotel in a quiet location with the friendly staff demonstrating warm hospitality. Room was very comfortable, clean and with good facilities. Good food, especially the breakfast which was freshly cooked. Choice of beers was OK and so were the wines; conniesors may want wider choices but I'd ask them to consider the price of stay and location.
