A large thatched pub with a spacious garden & a separate restaurant housed in a rebuilt granary barn (dating from 1480) which was relocated to this site in the mid-1980s. Also on site is a Bumpy's Magic Kingdom, a fully supervised indoor play area for children. The pub dates from the mid 16th century.

Despite being a Saturday Night this restaurant didn't really seem to have an Atmosphere. Whilst the staff were friendly, they didn't seem to be very attentive when it come to service. We arrived about 8pm so an hour before the kitchen was due to be closed whilst we didn't have a reservation there was plenty of tables but we still had to wait for 15 minutes for a table to become ready. Not sure what this required but it obviously didn't mean it was to be cleaned properly as when we were seating both the table and the wine menu was very very sticky. I don't think the wine menu could have even been cleaned. We ordered some Steaks a Ribeye and a Sirloin, would have liked to have had the T Bone but they had run out of that. The sides we had were Chips with one and Rosemary Skin On Fries. Which to be honest apart from the Rosemary Skin On Fries being slightly skinnier and a large potion of rock salt dumped on them there really wasn't much difference at all. The steaks were cooked correctly however the steak sauce that accompanied them could have been heated up better as it was slightly cool. Noone come to check if everything was Ok with our meals until we had finished and was difficult to get anyone's attention to get a second drink and the desert menu. For the desserts we both had the Triple Chocolate Brownie Sunday which was ok. Whilst we enjoyed our meals overall a few changes and a bit more attention to detail could have made this meal better.
Nice place to stop for a drink travelling through Suffolk. Good drink options and good service from the staff. Portion sizes of the Chips ordered were less than expected and for the price paid.
An altogether excellent venue for hospitality and dining. A warm welcome at the restaurant entrance and very helpful advice to navigate gluten and other allergy needs for one of our number. The decoration and general ambience was impressive. The staff were very responsive to our needs and service was first class. A wide ranging menu steered us through a superb meal. A most enjoyable visit and certainly one which we will repeat. Many thanks to the restaurant staff for a memorable dining experience.
Excellent pub with high quality pub food, well worth a visit. The pub is beautiful with a really nice atmosphere and the restaurant part of the pub is equally impressive. Nice beer garden area with a play area for kids. Highly recommended A+++ Don't hesitate to try this charming beautiful country pub 🍻
Visited the pub this evening and was served by a lovely blonde girl. She was very polite and happy. Food was very hot and tasty. Will definitely be back. We got the sharing platter for desert which was incredible I must say 😍
