A great little pub in Charmouth. We didn't know what to expect but the food was superb. I had a lovely butternut squash tortellini and my partner had mushrooms with a port and Stilton sauce. I don't normally like blue cheese but from a taste it was delicious. We both had a mushroom and leek pie with chunky chips and a vegetable medley. My pie was a smudge burnt but was full of mushrooms, leeks and spinach and very tasty. I thoroughly recommend this gem of a pub.

Found this nice Inn on way into Charmouth, soon went in staff friendly and welcoming. Partner ordered pint of Ale 200 and instantly liked it. Really clean and tidy inside and outside. Lovely views out front with few tables and chairs outside. Plenty of seating inside. They fully booked yesterday 14/10/2023. Went back in today 15/10/2023 and fully booked again so if looking for food best to book. We didn't have food but did look and smell really nice, so going again next time for food. Toilets clean. This Inn is dog friendly. Parking is available on side of road. Nice place and nice staff..

We chose to have lunch here as has more review stars that the other pub in Charmouth. The pub was run by wife front of house and husband in the kitchen. I rarely order a starter but had my head turned by the crab arancini on the specials board. They looked delicious when served but sadly no taste or sight of crab, chef had added a very strong tasting ingredient, almost like garlic salt or something, which was the dominant flavour and I could taste nothing else, including the truffle mayonnaise. They were disappointing, I mentioned it to the chap who collected the plate and he said sorry and that was that.. for main we again ordered from the specials board, I had silver mullet with Spanish style tomato stew. The fish was cooked perfectly, but for me, the stew was a bit dense, it could have been loosened out a bit with maybe a good slug of olive oil, and a little sugar to sweeten the tomato, especially against the earthy flavour of the mullet, it just needed a bit of a lift. My husband had ribeye steak, the dish was nicely presented, but the very thick chips were not to his liking, I tried one they were quite soft, not really like chips, they were too big for chips, we thought the steak was on the small side at £24.99, but have to say really good to have the pepper sauce served as part of the dish, not like other places that change extra. We were asked if we wanted dessert and we decided to push the boat out and share a one, although we were asked by the landlady to decide as quickly as possible as the kitchen closed 30 minutes ago! I'm certain it wasn't meant to be rude but it came across a little bit so, the desert was however very nice. The bill was just shy of £90 although that's with a couple of large wines and beers too. After spending that amount on lunch we didn't come away a happy as we'd liked. The food wasn't bad, just not quite there. They are obviously working very hard and I wish them both luck.

Lovely little pub, great to visit for a drink. Book ahead for dinner as they're almost always packed - for good reason! The food is absolutely delicious and wouldn't be out of place in a fancy restaurant, particularly the specials.

I ate here on a Saturday night and I was thrilled to find that they have a whole gluten free menu already ready to go with plenty of options, including classic pub dishes that ordinarily I would never be able to eat like fish and chips or scampi! They also have a designated vegetarian/vegan menu with plenty of options where its clearly labelled also with gluten free dishes. (Menu photos uploaded were accurate as of mid June 2023). It's fantastic to see this level of attention to detail in a country pub! Atmosphere is friendly and there is a good mix of locals and tourists, even in the height of the summer. I recommend booking if you want to eat on a summer weekend to make sure you will get a table. Definitely recommended if you're staying in the area and especially if you want to be sure that you can eat out with anyone who is vegan or gluten free!
