The Royal George is situated right opposite Euston Station and is named after the HMS Royal George that was a flagship vessel for the Royal Navy back in the 1800's.
The present building dates back to 1877 when the area had major redevelopment to provide for a road between Oxford Street and Charing Cross. This made available land which was bought and built upon by Sir Charles Wyndham, the famous Actor Manager, and so began the traditions of theatre land with the Wyndhams and Albery Theatres named after the owner and stepson respectively. In the following years the Round Table has grown closer to the world of theatre and is a welcome meeting place for actors and audiences alike.
Decent pub right next to Euston train station. Only popped in for a couple of pints but atmosphere was good and staff were fantastic. They served a great pint of Guinness too. Haven't tried the food but it looked great and very reasonably priced
I enjoyed a very good Westwood pale ale, but wasn't expecting the £7.20 price. Not as busy as the Wetherspoon's close by, but very nicely decorated.
Fantastic place...Top food & drink..Will visit next time in the area.
Cool place with good drinks. The atmosphere is electric but you pay for it with the wait. If your party is trying for a table get there early.
Lively London pub showing the men's final of Wimbledon 2023 when we arrived. We chose to take a free table outside where conversation between diners and tables was also lively. Being a Sunday night, they had sold out of steak and ale pie, so we opted for their excellent fish and chips. The wine list is quite good, including a lovely New Zealand sauvignon blanc and a surprising Australian Riesling. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for, and the brownie with clotted cream ice cream is excellent.
