The Rowbarge, has been serving the needs of travellers and locals alike for hundreds of years. It is a truly characterful traditional pub.
There are six different rooms with nooks and crannies aplenty, six different cask ales on tap, a decent wine list and a shelf crammed with malts. And most important of all, you'll find a warm welcome from a friendly crew who'll enjoy looking after you.
Location was idylic. Food good, Not spektakulär nor surprising. Solid Brit restaurant fast food.
Had a fantastic beef roast dinner here along with a mini pudding /hot drink dessert. The beef roast was good. The beef came cooked medium and juicy, and was complimented well with crispy roast potatoes and seasonal veg. The parsnip puree was a nice touch and the side order of stuffing was really well seasoned and generously portioned. The chocolate brownie was very rich and sticky. I don't think I could have managed the full sized portion after my roast, but I would have given it a good go because it was that nice!
Absolutely lovely roast beef for Sunday lunch, I had the smaller pud and a hot drink after, also really good! I just want to thank the lady who looked after us when we arrived, in changing our table, thank you so much for this, I know it was a busy service but it meant a lot, and was excellent customer support and very kind of you. Nice to see the bar so busy too. Enjoyed my visit. We’ll be back.
Large country pub on the Kennet and Avon canal and next to the A4 and midgham railway station. Lovely interior and beer garden. Good drink selection and nice food, though fairly expensive. Very popular, if having food I would recommend booking a table, particularly if it's too cold to sit outside. Customer toilets are only accessible via a quite narrow and steep flight of stairs. Large parking area available.
We were a party of 20 people who went for a Christmas lunch today, everything was excellent and I really enjoyed my vegetarian wellington.
