Rocksalt Bexhill was a new venture for Sam & Katie Calver along with their young son River in April 2021.
After 10 years in the music industry for Sam and demanding role in Beauty Sales for Katie, Covid like for all of us, shut down life as we knew it.
Forcing them to grow and evolve which led to a new life in Hospitality and a new venture with Rocksalt. They haven’t looked back since!.

Really lovely restaurant, excellent freshly cooked food & wonderful friendly service. Molly was great, taking time to come & speak with us. Ted my labrador loved it too! The unique chocolate, coffee & caramel pud is delicious...ask about it! Thank you everyone, we will be back for sure 🤩
I’ve just shared with the very friendly ladies doing service how disappointed we were with the food. I can honestly say some of the worst food I have ever eaten. I hate to leave a bad review but I also hate being fleeced on awful food and would hate it to happen others. Judging by how few people were eating there I assume most locals are aware of the quality of food. We were served “croquettes” that I could have played table tennis with. The beef inside them was beyond dry - we had our dog with us and he actually refused a second piece of the meat from them. The chef really needs to look up the meaning of “goulash” what I had was a tasteless mushroom stew with a couple of pieces of very average and unseasoned beef. The chicken kebab my husband was served was disgraceful, burnt and dry. The chips were fine and the service was good. But to think any chef is comfortable sending food out in that state is absolutely crazy!
After a beautiful day on beach, i wanted to try fish and chips to end this beautiful day. I said my self to tried something new. So i decide to try this new pub(after research on google map and review) First contact, first impression with cashier : false laugh almost to say to me i am welcome to eat at their pub. Second impression : overcharge me : ONE GLASS OF NON ALCHOHOL BEER 5.10£(VERY EXPENSIVE).FISH AND CHIPS 17£(decent) I wait about 10 min for food and i wanted so much to taste new recipe of fish. THIRD IMPRESSION: taste was ok, but after a while i was sick from fish and chips(NEVER HAPPENING BEFORE), i was not prepar to find bones in fish. is supposed to be fillets fish( nobody told me to pe careful). FOURTH IMPRESSION: waiters and cashier need to understand people are coming from different cultures and we are NOT all the same. We have different way to eat a fish ( not messy but DIFFERENT). 🤌🤌🤌.I feel i was treated with no respect, rude, unprofessional Although i pay my meal with my money from my pocket. Like a summary of what i describe here: Never back to eat at this pub(expensive, rude, no fresh fish).
Popped in for a spot to eat & drink. Very welcoming lady and nice staff throughout. Nice selection of drinks and food options. Got a platter & one of the specials which was beef brisket balls. Always a pleasant visit when the sun is shining and the views of the sea in the background.
The food is always good here but the service can be a bit spotty sometimes. Good atmosphere and they allow dogs. I’ve had quite a few meals here but this is the dirty Mexican fries (£5) which were great! UPDATE!: I’ve returned since the rebrand and I’m not as big of a fan. The menu was the same but the food wasn’t. It’s clear that they’re cutting corners when making it. I also ordered a crumble for dessert and it was really sloppy. As in it was slop. It was obviously microwaved from frozen really disappointing. The reason that they still have 3 stars from me is from previous good will. Maybe it was an off night but I don’t plan on returning :(
