I came here for Burns night as they were the only pub doing something in the area. I was pleasantly surprised. The haggis, neeps and tatties were very good. Could've done with a bit of sauce, but good. I have taken a star off because although there are 3 bar areas, they only serve one, and I was told quite rudely by the person who served me eventually that I should know that (how!?)
There’s never a moment in the day when this place isn’t busy, which while creating a buzzing atmosphere, getting a seat and table might not be so easy. My last visit on a mid-evening on a Thursday was as noted above. A good choice of hand-pulled beers, when I visited many were £2.55, a bargain for the area. A full mixture of ages where in the bar. Service was quick, my table was clean. If you are after a pub with a quiet and cosy atmosphere, this really isn’t suitable, but for a meet-up with friends it’s as good as any in the area
We came in this re-vamped pub last week, which saw new staff and a warmer atmosphere, the high chairs are everywhere and as a disabled person are not easy to use. They've cleaned the place up and although it's got a clean but darker space with the wooden bookcases around the walls, those high chairs spoil it!
The food was great especially one of this staff member, I placed my order online on their website but unfortunately for some reason their system didn’t have my order and we waited over 30 min for the food but somehow we had our drinks. I explained to the short white women with glasses our problem and she was so nice in helping us out and retaking our order and explaining we would probably get a refund since they didn’t have our first order purchase. When we finished our meal I wanted to give the women a tip but she went on break so I left the tip with a young lady at the bar asking for her to pass it to her when she’s back from her break. The environment was nice for a gathering as their food and drinks are very cheap.
I had a pepperoni pizza with extra chillis and mushrooms and a signature IPA for £14.55. Not good busy for a Saturday night either friendly locals.
