What a gem. Super friendly landlord and customers. Lovely traditional pub with a great atmosphere. The ambiance and food was 11/10. We ordered a mega burger and my husband said it was amazing. Generous sized portions and fabulous crispy onions rings and hot chips. I had the lamb shank with mash with a redcurrant and mint gravy and it was unbelievable. The gravy was the best I think I have ever had. There was loads of meat and I couldn’t finish it! It was so tender it fell off the bone. Everything was spotless and obviously well looked after and the kitchen looked immaculate (probably one of the cleanest tidiest kitchens we have ever seen in a pub). I’d go back in a heartbeat because I feel cheated I couldn’t force down a pudding haha. The pie section of the menu was really interesting and all home made - no stingy portions either this looked like pie heaven so I’ll try that next. Easy to find, good parking and smashing selection of ciders etc. 100% worth a visit and we will be back probably this week because we enjoyed it so much it’s well worth the drive for such a smashing pub. I must add the menus was very impressive overall especially the vegan selection was looked so much better than the usual lentil bakes I see around. My best friends vegan so we might take her with us next time and treat her to a decent meal ! Thanks for a lovely evening see you again soon x

Nothing to fault at all. Well run, proper pub. Great food and service all around and the chips are lush. Lovely welcoming staff and landlady/landlord. Will definitely come again. Enjoyed every minute of it. Amazing place for the whole family including the dog :). Would definitely recommend.

Came here to relive childhood memories, used to come here all the time. Also one of my family members years ago actually built the skittle alley and the smaller bar area; henceforth this pub has a special connection for us. We were a group of 13 people as such we were required to preorder which was fine and totally understandable. The food was okay for pub food it was also great value. I had the scampi and chips for main then the blackberry and apple crumble for dessert which was all perfectly acceptable. The service was good and efficient, the skittle alley is no longer in use due to the landlord not being able to make it pay which is a shame. It was great to be back in this pub remembering all my childhood memories. There is a car park at the rear which isn’t a great size but there is also plenty of parking available on the road just past the pub if you’re sensible about it. There is a decent seating area as soon as you walk in with a bar and a open fireplace, then further seating just down a slight step which is where we were. For infirm or disabled people there is a rear entrance which does not have a step. The sports bar area is smaller but also has some seating and it’s own bar area. Based on this experience I would definitely recommend a visit for some standard pub food at a decent price.
