The Redwell Inn offers 8 modern en-suite guest bedrooms, which have recently been refurbished, free Wi-Fi, and free on-site parking. The town centre can be reached within a 10-minute walk and is lined with picturesque Georgian buildings. Here you will find Barnard Castle which was begun soon after 1093 on a site above the River Tees. Also in the town is The Bowes Museum, a grand structure replicating a French Chateau, purpose built in the 19th century and is home to an array of Art, including a life sized Silver Swan automaton.

For the golf lovers, Barnard Castle golf course is just 100 metres away. Within a 25 minute drive you will find High Force Waterfall, one of the most impressive waterfalls in England. Also within a 25 minute drive you can find Egglestone Abbey and Raby Castle.

We are close to the Pennine Way, a national trail that runs along the rugged backbone of England and offers 260 miles of the finest scenery. We are also only an hours drive from the Lake District.

Barnard Castle holds a weekly market and a monthly farmers market on the first Saturday of each month in the town.

We've passed The Red Well Inn many times on our journey up Teesdale to visit family. Having had it recommended, we decided to have a birthday Sunday lunch there. We booked a table during the week. On arrival we were accorded a very warm welcome. Our table was in the centre of the room, which was pleasing. The interior is very homely. Drinks were served straight away. The menus were handed out and we were left in peace to select lunch. We chose our lunch, which was served in good time. The meal was hot and very tasty. The staff were very attentive and we were well looked after. The cost of the meal was in keeping with other outlets. Ample parking made parking very easy. It was an enjoyable outing. It certainly made a special day more special. Thanks to you all. Will definitely return.

We decided to take our grown up daughter to lunch on her birthday. She suggested here as she had been before, but not for Sunday lunch. Our table was ready for us and we were met with a smiling face. We sat down and drinks were ordered promptly followed by our lunch choices. We had 2 beef lunches and 1 pork lunch. Our meals came after a short wait, the waiter was polite and friendly and told us to let him know if we needed anything at all. The meal was delicious with mash, roasties, carrots, swede and curly cabbage with Yorkshire puddings. There was plenty for all. We each had a heavy boat too. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back.
