Set in the heart of rural Sturminster Marshall, The Red Lion Inn has been a long-established part of village life; a popular spot with locals and tourists alike.
Our current chef has been an integral part of the pub for over twenty years, serving classic favourites like steak and ale pie as well as a variety of a la carte dishes every day, as well as traditional roast dinners on a Sunday.
Under new management, we have expanded the beer garden which now encompasses a children’s play area and overlooks a smallholding with horses, sheep, pigs, and views over the rolling fields beyond. We are a dog and family-friendly pub, as long as children are kept on leads!
We are able to cater to a number of events including weddings, parties, wakes, and conferences. Future plans include a converted horsebox bar, stone-baked sourdough pizzas, and a BBQ in the garden for when the sun is shining.

I was part of a large group that had 5 different meals between us. My steak and ale pie was disappointing - too gristly - but everyone else was very pleased with what they had. The ales were very well kept and the service was excellent. We will return for sure.
We had a Party of 22 to Celebrate My Mum's 90th Birthday. The Staff were so accommodating & Friendly, the Food was nice n Hot & Delicious. I recommend

Fantastic Food. The Sarah and Joe were very happy to cater for 15 of us, pre ordered our food, arrived hot and very flavoursome. The atmosphere was perfect warm inviting and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of clean plates and full tummy. Thank you See you soon
Celebrated my birthday here. The staff were lovely and had decorated a corner of the pub for us. They even sang Happy Birthday!! The food was fabulous, the atmosphere wonderful, a great place to catch up with old friends. A massive thank you to the lovely lady who served us. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed. We ordered food from the Specials list Fish Gratin, Slow Cooked Pork Belly, Salt and Pepper Squid, Home Made Mushroom Bourgigon on Toast and a Chicken Special and we all loved the food ❤️
