Food was nice but from the moment we walked through the door we were greeted by the most miserable barman I have ever met who ended seating us and unfortunately serving us for the duration of our stay. I strongly suggest he seeks an alternative career as front of house hospitality is not his thing. Oh, he also asked if we could settle the bill so he could go and have his lunch! Awful service from start to finish and considering the large service charge you put on the bill I would take a look at your staff! Shame, he totally lets the place down as apart from this one particular individual the experience was nice.
Enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch with friends and our two dogs. Very nice choice of vegan food including a superb pudding. We were all extremely impressed with the quality of the meal, the friendly service and the value for money.
Fine old country tavern with a lot of character. Good reasonably priced menu and reasonable selection of ales. Sort of place to huddle into a corner on a winter's afternoon with a very large book, a pint and nowhere to go. Recommended.
Stayed for 2 nights and ate both evenings in the pub. Room was nice and comfortable with a lovely large bed and a nice supply of homemade shortbread. Breakfast service begins at 7:30 so I had to miss one day due to work commitments. On the second morning I asked for a bacon and sausage sandwich and was given a small plate with one slice of toast, dollop of beans and one small sausage which was disappointing. Sunday roast menu was lovely. The menu and food for mon - sat was delicious, couldn’t recommend highly enough. Pub ambiance was lovely and staff attentive. Would definitely recommend for anyone to visit, however would hope for an improvement breakfast next time.
We went for a Wedding "Recovery party" and it was just great. The staff really went out of their way to serve us and make the party a success. The fresh Pizzas were really good. I have no hesitation in recommending them as a great venue for a large gathering.
