Have just got home after popping in here at 2pm for something to eat. The pub was not full but were told only available tables were outside. When we went out, loads of tables available but all were piled with empty plates and glasses, found one that did not involve too much clearing to another table. My partner ordered food and bought our drinks out on a tray but while trying to open the door to come out a pint of Guinness went over. He went back and explained what had happened but was made to pay for another! If pubs are to continue serving vast amount of customers outdoors, they need to ensure that those customers have the same level of service as indoor customers, after all, we are paying the same. The food that we ordered was very nice but should we frequent again we will insist that our drinks are bought out to us. While we were there every customer that came to an outside table had to clear it first.
Staff friendly and although busy, efficient with orders and table service. Beautifully warm on a very cold day, an old world pub with an open fire. Loved the Winter Warmers for lunch, warming and comforting small lunches, very flavoursome too.
£10.15 for a shandy and a fizzy apple juice was a bit steep we thought. Service was good and atmosphere was nice but the cost was incredible. We sat outside under the marquee. I'd recommend bringing a flask.
Food was lovely and waitress was very accommodating. Dropped a star due to a woman with red hair coming over and very abruptly asking us to move as table was reserved without even checking if we had actually made the reservation. (Had also been shown to this table by waitress prior). No apology either.
Excellent food and good sized portions. Good choice. Service none existent and glacially slow. Bottles not cleared as food served at the table. Water had to be asked for. I had to go and get dessert menus as a way of getting attention to clear the table. By this time a celebratory meal was feeling an endurance test. Needless to say I did not leave a tip and would think carefully about returning, sadly as it is close to my home.
