About us

The Red Lion is a firm favourite in Cheadle. Situated just outside the village next to the BP garage, the dog-friendly pub has a carpark and a large beer garden called ‘The Bay’ which has plenty of picnic benches and parasols. The raised terrace area is used all year round for al fresco dining thanks to its canopy, large umbrella and heaters. You’ll even get a hot water bottle on those chilly nights! Inside, the Red Lion has been lovingly refurbished with a modern yet classic pub style. The snugs and fireplaces make it cosy and inviting whilst the open plan dining areas give light and space showcasing the new fully stocked back bar. Full table service is offered at all times.

Delicious food and really friendly service. We ate from the Christmas menu which had great options for vegetarians. The Mushroom, Leek and Tarragon pie was amazing. Kelly was efficient and super friendly, she even arranged for 'decaff' Eggnog Espresso Martinis. A lovely Christmas 🎄 night.

Not been in here for years as don’t live in the area. Met a friend for tea and wow what a lovely atmosphere and the Christmas decorations are something out of a picture book. The food- the main event was the best, I had a club sandwich a dish that is well deservedly making a comeback on menus and this one did not disappoint, I actually think it’s the best one I’ve had. I will definitely be back for another and a Sunday dinner, what a lovely cosy place bit jealous of you Cheadle folk having this wonderful establishment in your village

First time going to Red Lion for a Sunday roast and it did not disappoint! Absolutely loved the roast pork and the crackling. The staff were lovely. Highly recommend.

I ate here as part of a large party. We received exquisite service and the food was fantastic! I didn’t get her name but the waitress with the australian accent was a standout member of staff. The vegetarian and vegan options available on their three course menu all sounded superb. I had the leek and potato soup which tasted exactly how my mum has always made it, but came with warm cheese scones!! 😍 The bombay inspired cauliflower pie was sensational with a spicey gravy sauce. And to finish off a spectacular sticky toffee sponge which they kindly swapped the custard for ice cream for me 🤩

Hadn't visited the Red Lion for a few years. The food was recommended by a friend so I decided to give it a go. There's plenty of parking in the pub car park and there is easy access for wheelchair users. It was Thursday night, the place was busy but not too noisy. We booked in advance and were seated immediately. The menu was relatively simple but with plenty of choice for all. I had the Caesar salad and my friend had the burger. The portion sizes were good and everything tasted great. I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.
