Set in the square of the Dorset town of Beaminster, The Red Lion is an 18th century coach house modernised to replicate the classic English pub.
We are warm and inviting, offering a friendly welcome every time you visit, whilst serving the finest Palmers ales, lagers and spirits with something to suit everyone's needs and taste. Our food menu offers traditional pub classics to whet your appetite and compliment your beverages. We have fantastic facilities such as our beautiful beer garden sheltered by the ancient stone wall as well as a skittle alley for fun filled games.
Please come along to The Red Lion, we look forward to seeing you soon!.
Lovely food tonight at a very reasonable price. I strongly recommend the pan cooked sea bass with capers. Friendly chat with a range of people after.
We dined here mid week so it was fairly quiet , we had prime position by the log fire. The food was excellent and the service was first class. The menu is varied with dishes to suit all tastes. Good selection of Palmer's local ales and lagers. Will certainly be going back soon.
Great tasty food, nice staff. Couldn't find a car park for the pub so have to park in The Square, pay and display

We tend to eat roast dinners out quite often and as we were passing through, thought we’d try the Red Lion. The pub was empty but we had checked Google reviews and they were ok from a couple of months ago. We ordered our drinks and I got the wrong drink but let it go as didn’t mind the drink I received. We ordered 2 adult roasts and a child’s one. When they came I asked if my son’s was a child’s and she snapped at me that I hadn’t asked for a child’s one (she later apologised when checking if all was ok when I told her I found her rude). Nothing on the plate tasted fresh and our 6 year old told her the potatoes weren’t fresh but she guaranteed that they were cooked this morning. We ate up quickly (what was edible) and got out and paid for a child’s meal instead of an adult as she seemed to think this was our only issue. We also said how we had 18 carrots and a lots of cauliflower and broccoli cheese (me and my son don’t eat cheese) to share between us. This is just our opinion of course. This is such a shame as it is a lovely pub in a lovely little town.
