Nice little bar. We were in on new year's eve at about 5:15 and they were packed. Unfortunately they were also about to close at 6:00 before reopening again at 7:00. We managed to get a couple of drinks though and squeezed onto some stools in the passage that leads to the loo. Fairly expensive but good beers and the wine was ok too.
🛍 in nearby Morrisons and decide to go across the road to the cafe. Not disappointed - lovely cup of coffee (latte and capacino) - just what was needed!
First time visiting Porters and wasn't disappointed,not the biggest place but just big enough to create that intimate atmosphere.
Love this place. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. Food is gorgeous. Mulled wine amazing. Lovely atmosphere.
1. Unfortunately there is no telephone contact at the establishment and so we could not either find out what time food was served until or reserve a table? - what business has not got a telephone?. This was the day before and we knew that the owners also had The Grey Mare up the road and so we tried to ring that - but the phone was disabled?. We tried phoning again the next day but same response?. 2. We still got a taxi in the hope of having a meal (we had been before when newly opened and enjoyed the time we spent there). We got there at 6:30pm (4th Nov 2023) with two family members and got a table to sit at, when I went to the bar to order some drinks I asked what time was last orders for food? - the reply was that it was normally 7pm but because the place is full and no-one is ordering food they'd decided to cancel food. This is when it got interesting?. I asked why the establishment didn't have a phone contact and the reply was "because we don't". I replied "Well I wanted to phone you yesterday to find out the last orders for food so I could book us in to eat?". The reply was "Well the owners have the the Grey Mare pub nearby and you could have phoned them?" - my reply was "Well fortunately I knew that (but not by your website) and when I tried to ring them on the day before and on the afternoon of the 4th Nov - the phone was not functioning (and I don't mean by continually ringing - but cutting off). 3. Nice place to have a drink - but absolutely rubbish to contact and book a meal - Get A Phone Contact!
