Poised on the corner of the city overlooking the beautiful Arkwright University Building and Gardens. The Playwright is at the bustling heart of the great city of Nottingham serving freshly made artisan pizzas, seriously tasty beers and a delicious selection of cocktails.
Our gorgeous wood-fired oven, 'Juliet', cooks all our pizzas from fresh at a scorching 290°. We cater for everyone so we've also got gluten-free and vegan options available.
We've got some seriously versatile spaces available for up to 100+ guests. Whether it's a meeting with your team, gathering your friends for a celebration or a lavish wedding with a difference, we've got the perfect destination to do it.
Oh, and we also love dogs, meaning they are most welcome to join you in our bar area.

My favourite pub in Notts, lovely atmosphere, excellent food, and the staff are incredible! Big shout out to Alex the best quiz master and head chef in the midlands and Tanya and Lucy on the bar as well! We come every week on Tuesday just for the quiz which is so thoughtfully put together and literally free to take part in, always great prizes on offer and guaranteed to be a good time.
Best pub in notts !!! Staff are so lovely, Angus is a great chef, Alex is the best quiz master (we love you) , Tanya and Lucy are so lovely on the bar!! Come here if you want a good night (can’t forget the pizzas🫶🫶)
I come here a few times so I decided I will bring my date here, we had a great time, pub decorations are really cool and the staff are the nicest of anywhere I’ve been, very helpful, I was served my drinks by Tanya and she was so lovely, had a great chat, our food was delicious too we had pizza and chicken wings and the chef Alex even came out herself to ask if we enjoyed it, which we did a lot! I think the best pizza in Notts, hopefully I will get a second date and bring her back here
What a gem! There are a few decent pubs in the centre but this is my new favourite! Staff very friendly and helpful, especially for new year's eve.... Good selection of gluten-free options for food too. Will be back!
Gone here a few times and it's always a friendly vibe regardless of age. Got served by someone called Alex and they were so friendly. I will definitely be coming back here in the near future. (Should definitely give Alex a pay rise!)
