Birthday meal with my husband. Beautiful food - really tasty. 3 courses plus drinks just over 100£ for us both - great price. Atmosphere was cosy and the staff were really kind. Would 100% recommend and would definitely be back.
First of all, the food is excellent, well worth a try. The food came out very quick, was amazing, and although the first pint I had was off, the second one was really nice. Now to the rooms. Although there was a main light on the ceiling it wasn't working. I found an old pair of socks on the floor behind the heater that were covered in dust so had been there a while. Then I decided to have a look round to see if there was anything else around and noticed some rubbish under the bed and a layer of dust, is hasn't been cleaned under that bed ever. Cupboard door was wonky and wouldn't shut and bathroom was really mouldy. I checked out early as there was piles of dust around, a real shame as the restaurant and bar is amazing. No effort at all has gone into the accommodation.
It's not much to look at from outside, but inside the decor is fresh and modern while still retaining some rural charm. The food is varied and high quality, without being stuffy. Normally quite fussy, we were tempted by several choices on the menu. My wife (a veggie) enjoyed a butternut squash Wellington, while I was in the mood for a burger, which turned out to be juicy and flavoursome, with crunchy chips. All in all, a rare gem that's worth venturing a little off the beaten track to discover!
What a flawless family Christmas Day (2023) lunch at the Peat Spade. The entire event from the point of booking was brilliant - excellent communications throughout. Wonderful, discrete service and excellent food. Great care for elderly guests and GF requirements. Would highly recommend the PS for everyone.
This was our second stay at The Peat Spade and we had the same great experience. The room was tastefully decorated, super comfy beds. Breakfast was delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend The Peat Spade for a relaxing holiday weekend.
