Really beautiful food, service and a lovely atmosphere. Along with our Chocolate Labrador we had a splendid lunch, just fantastic food. So pleased we booked this place and we shall definitely come again.
Great local pub, good food, simple but well delivered menu, prompt service, good atmosphere and generally a pleasant local pub, what’s not to like. Dog friendly as well!
Prviously visited a couple of decades ago. On our belated return on Sunday, the Packsaddle provided superb Sunday roasts. Lovely pint(s) of local Loddon brewery Hoppit. Highly recommend.
We couldn’t get a table at a higher rated nearby pub so decided to give this place a try — and it didn’t disappoint! We had prawns and chicken wings for a starter — both were superb, with great presentation and attention to detail, although the chicken wings had too much sauce and it was too sweet for me (but I am not used to British regional taste, so most food tastes sweet). We had fish and chips (delicious) and lamb chops as mains. And boy wasn’t it a delight. One of the best lamb chops I’ve tried in this country, tender, soft, not well done which is rare here (pun not intended). We also liked the choice of music (old blues and jazz). We will definitely be back. P.S. forgot to mention deserts. Crumble was nice and not too sweet and cream brûlée had cookie crumbs on top, so I was afraid there wasn’t a sugar crust. But no, it was right there, I just couldn’t break it with the spoon 😅
Absolutely staggeringly good! We used to come to the Pack Saddle regularly before the pandemic but stopped when the previous owners got my steak meal wrong three times in succession. Last night we gave it another shot and it was just amazing! The calamari starter was cooked to perfection, just really soft and delicious. The burger was a complete showstopper - two perfectly seasoned smashed burgers, properly crispy bacon and crispy onions. No huge amounts of lettuce or tomatoes to make the thing look bigger than it actually is.That was, hands down, the most delicious burger I’ve ever had in any pub. Anywhere. We finished with a biscotti cheesecake that was absolute heaven. An absolute revelation and worth every penny, unlike some other places where you feel corners are being cut. We will definitely be coming back!
