We visited on a quiet Thursday evening for a small family meal. It was a rainy windy night and the place was fairly empty, but the logburner was going and we got a friendly welcome. We had already booked a table but probably wasn't necessary that night! We have a few dietary requirements (gluten-free and onion-free) and they were super helpful in providing suitable replacements. So many places will just remove the offending items and leave a half-empty plate! I had the Steak, Guiness and Stilton pie and it was delicious. The GF Classic burger was immense, and had a lovely salad to accompany it. All was good, in a warm and friendly environment.
We had a very hearty meal here and were served by the most friendly staff in Buxton! Lasagne with chips, steak and ale pie and a mixture of tasty sides. The portions were huge which the walkers in our group welcomed. Staff were so friendly and accommodating - definitely recommend visiting for food which was great value. The bar is very small (only fitting one server) so this meant a long queue for drinks during busy time but that didn’t bother us. Lovely beer garden behind the pub with a lovely view.
Amazing food. Great service. Lots of places to sit outside. Dogs welcome. Can't wait to go back.
Stayed at the campsite a couple of minutes walk down the road and came here 4 times in 2 days for a cup of tea, Sunday lunch and twice for drinks. It'd be really easy for the only local place to do mediocre food but this was far from it, the staff were friendly and the views were wonderful. I'd recommend booking a table and then eating as many chips as humanly possible.
We were passing through and rang ahead to arrange food, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent, we also ended up having a sweet (which we don't normally do) but when it's Bakewell Tart you just have to! There is good selection of ales and some that are brewed locally, parking is ample and views of the surrounding area is stunning
