Lovely place well decorated, taking you back in time with the little shops and cobbled street setting.
I honestly cannot believe how down hill this place has gone. I use to eat here twice a week and now I just don’t bother. The service from the staff has been bad recently too.. only ever a couple of people serving drinks and taking food orders so you find yourself standing for ages to order food. The food quality now is horrendous too! The pizzas and garlic breads use to be the main thing I would go for but now all they serve is old stale tasteless pizzas.. The past 3 times we have been they have been terrible and the dough should have been binned a week before but they still serve them. I kept trying to come back hoping they would return to their old amazing ones but this is just their new regular.. I won’t be back again and they’ve lost a lot of money from us and others as i tell people to stay well clear now.
Having travelled a fair way to try this place we were very disappointed as the chips were bland, crunchy and hard. The mushroom burger tasted very good but the plate looked boring and needed a garnish or colelaw. The cheese and onion pie was dry so this made the meal dry, along with the awful chips and hard to enjoy. Service was generally lacking.
'Owd Nell's Tavern is located within Guy's Thatched Hamlet. There is plenty of parking available. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a large outdoor seating area. The Tavern offers a great choice of drinks from soft drinks, tea, coffee to wine, cask kept ales and lagers from around the world. The food is good, home cooked and your typical pub grub and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.
Excellent Steak and Kidney pudding! This place is a little gem, I really enjoyed my time here and I have visited many times in the past. The food is really tasty pub grub, wonderfully cooked and very filling. I had the Steak and Kidney pudding and it was chock-full of steak and kidney. The chips were nice too, chippy style and the veg on the side were nice also. My brother had Cheese and Onion Pie which he really enjoyed, but he said he could have done with some gravy as he forgot to order it (it's on the sides menu). There was plenty of staff and they were all really nice and friendly. Our food came quickly and it was nice and hot. The decor inside is really cool and I really like all the old signage. Will be back soon.
