Visited for dinner and a few drinks. Lovely old place but I was very surprised that a restaurant which serves nice food runs out of mashed potatoes. Tesco is a few minutes drive away and potatoes cost very little compared to a £90 meal for two.
Cosy place to stay, very close to Heathrow and other main routes into London. Lots of story here, even a few ghosts, and the staff were fabulous. Great food and a very warm welcome. We'll be back soon
The Ostrich Inn is a great experience. They have a delicious Full English Breakfast and a welcoming staff. They have a great selection of beer. The rooms are charming, clean and reasonably priced. They have a great meeting room upstairs that I'm sure would be good for events. Overall, would recommend a stop here either for a beer in a mellow English town on the way out of Heathrow Airport or for an enjoyable place to stay for a few nights.
Found an old original pub in Colnbrook when delayed international travel from Heathrow. This was within easy walking distance from airport hotel. Staff very friendly. Traditional breakfasts and lunches were of good proportions and well priced. We were pleasantly surprised when one of the lunches was delayed the chef said it was ‘ on the house’. We were astonished by this exceedingly generous gesture but we decided to pay full price with a generous tip. Best of luck to this good old English Pub.
A varied experience! The person who checked us in was very friendly and accommodating but the person the next morning wasn’t very interested in answering any questions regarding breakfast etc and actually put us off dining there. Room was nice at first glance but could do with different bulbs in the bedside lamps - they were very white which isn’t great for creating a nice atmosphere. The main issue is that the mattresses need an upgrade - VERY springy, not at all what you expect for £100 a night. Pillows also pretty lumpy. Fine if you’re not sensitive to these things! The history of the place is very present and made for a fun experience, but overall wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return.
