Wife went after being stuck at train station, very unwelcoming and less than helpful. When I went in to pick her up the barman didn’t say a single word while he served me! No wonder pubs are closing
Such a lovely pub always made to feel welcome everyone is friendly 😁
Extremely Poor Customer Service, Possible Discrimination Visited this pub next to the train station with high hopes given its nice garden setting, but left utterly disappointed and offended by the landlord's behavior. Our experience was tarnished by rudeness and an aggressive demeanor that was completely uncalled for. We had initially ordered crisps and sparkling water. Despite paying for the crisps, the landlord aggressively grabbed a bag from us and threw it, causing a scene. The tension escalated when we inquired about our sparkling water, which had yet to be poured. The landlord seemed confused, repeatedly stating, "We don't serve soda, we've got sparkling water," even though we had asked for sparkling water in the first place. The situation felt even more uncomfortable due to an apparent undertone of discrimination. My partner, who is Asian, was the one ordering, and it seemed like we were not treated the same as we would have been if we were locals or Southern English. I've since noticed other reviews mentioning similar experiences. I strongly recommend avoiding this establishment until there is a significant change in management and customer service philosophy.
If you are not a white south English man, don't expect the most basic politeness or greeting.
Real pub with real characters, if you fancy a pint after a long day at work pop in. We need to keep our village pubs open and cannot afford to lose anymore.
