We tied the knot here back in the beginning of December, and honestly it was magical. We were blown away from our very first visit and every subsequent visit we fell in love more and more with the venue. Jess was incrediblely helpful and calming and made the whole experience a dream. After looking at A LOT of alternatives, nothing came close and we are so thankful to have found you guys! If you're considering using this as your venue, then look no further...if we could have the day all over again we would, in a heartbeat. Also, side note and small wedding day tip, we brought a couple table tennis bats for the accommodation as there is a nice long table and it went down a storm with all the guests 😅
There are not enough words I can use to describe how good the Oakwood was as a venue for our wedding in April. From the moment we booked the date, Jess and the team were amazing in supporting us to pull together the day we had always dreamed of. Every part of the venue plays its own starring role. The ceremony barn is incredible and offers a large and spacious area as well as a perfect backdrop for photographs. The accommodation was one of the main things that appealed to us about the Oakwood and it didn't disappoint. Every room is perfectly decorated, there really are no bad rooms, the bridal suite just pipped it though as the nicest :-) The barn for the wedding breakfast took our breath away on the day and ticked all the boxes for what we were looking for. There was so much space for people to mingle together and the balcony area was a real bonus space especially with all the extra seating. So many people said it was "The best wedding they have been to" and I would mainly put that down to the stunning venue that is The Oakwood. If you don't believe me then just go and see Jess and the team and I promise you will fall in love with it as much as we did. Paul & Sophie xx
We had the perfect day in August 2023 for our wedding day. When we first visited back in 2021, we were instantly impressed by the quality of the gardens, the barns and the luxury feel of the accommodation. The beautiful ceremony barn lights just make the room feel that extra special. All our guests complimented how beautiful the venue was and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Jess is on hand and extremely knowledgeable, guiding us through our ideas and knowing who to speak to/what we needed to make our day feel complete. On the day Jess was present and supportive and the day went on with no issues. The venue is all set and to a high standard so minimal additional decor is required. You can make the space your own and use the time the day before to set up table decorations and signs etc. I look back on our day and it was incredibly special - seeing our friends enjoying sitting outside in the gardens, socialising upstairs in the bar area and enjoying the space. I wish we could do it all over again! Thank you Jess and team.
We had our wedding at Oakwood on Easter Saturday 2023. We had the most perfect day, with Jess on hand at all times whenever we needed her. I later found out that one of my bridesmaids was pregnant but didn't want to tell anyone yet, and Jess discretely sorted her out with alcohol free drinks all day, which was a really special and personal touch. The venue itself is beautiful and barely needs any decoration. The accommodation is spacious, and being there the night before with all of the family felt really special. My only criticism would be that at times it would seem that the things we had discussed at one meeting were then forgotten at the next. But Jess was always quick to correct this, and very responsive via email to all of my questions.
At Elizabeth James Events, we have been involved in many beautiful Weddings at Oakwood at Ryther. Every single one has been as stunning as the venue and accommodation itself, and the staff/family go above and beyond to make their high end venue, truly warm and welcoming. I always recommend this venue to couples looking for a venue in Yorkshire - It really ticks every box!
