The Castle is a traditional pub in the city
Sitting opposite the gatehouse of Nottingham Castle, it has Watson Fothergill to thank for its beauty. He designed the building in 1883 and it was originally called 'Mortimer House'. We have a passion for our beers here which comes across in our wide selection of real ales, world beers and selected ciders. Mixing beautiful views with a pleasant relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and a menu to die for. The rustic exterior blended with an inner city bar-style interior, whether a tourist, local professional or if you are just looking for somewhere nice to drink, The Castle is the place for those lazy daytimes and chatty evenings.
Nice pub. Great selection of beers. Food looked good that came out although we didn't have any those that did said it was good.
Great selection of real ales and craft beers. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great little place. Enjoyed.
Just went in for a quick drink, no one told us it was a card only pub before ordering grrrr. Diffo not coming here again...I like to pay cash
Spent £19 on a chicken roast and a soft drink which were good but the food took an hour and a half to arrive. The server was nice and kept assuring us it was coming but we were starving by the time it arrived. We still had to pay full price and we didn’t receive an apology for the wait time. Wont be back for a Sunday roast
Excellent pub. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the Sunday roast for lunch and it was delicious. Will definitely be coming back.

Established in 1189, but there is no concrete historical evidence for this. The first documented evidence of a pub in this location dates back to 1751, but ask any Nottingham student and they will be adamant this is the real deal.
