About us

Enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of an 17th century free house in the heart of the Northamptonshire village of Eydon.

A stunning 17th Century Ironstone exterior houses a range of well-kept cask ales and wines, and an imaginative menu of locally sourced, fresh produce, including our very own home-baked bread. Pie and pint night is on a Wednesday. The first Sunday of the month we hold our quiz starting at 7.30.

Many ingredients are sourced from within a ten-mile radius, and a beer token scheme encourages local allotment holders and gardeners to support both the bar and the kitchen! Special dietary requirements (including Gluten Free) can be catered for on request.

On a summers day locals and visitors alike make use of the outside courtyard area to enjoy a glass of Pimm's and soak up the sunshine. During the winter months, the pub makes use of under-floor heating, log fires and church candles to ensure a warm and cosy atmosphere.

With a friendly, chatty atmosphere, you will not be disappointed with the Royal Oak; the hardest part will be having to leave!.

Lovely country pub! The hosts couldn't do more to ensure their guests have a great time, I wanted a dish that wasn't on the Sunday menu, they cooked it for me anyway Thoroughly recommend

Very picturesque pub in a lovely little village. Very quiet when we went so we sat in the courtyard which was a great way to get out of the sun. Olive and bread starter was great, chips and onion rings were really good and the portions were huge! Chicken wings were a bit odd as they were battered. Staff were a bit busy watering plants and having lunch so took a while to get their attention but once we did they were really friendly

Small and friendly pub with warm and homely atmosphere. Not the widest menu but all food was hot and tasty and freshly cooked. Prices reasonable and friendly staff. Worth calling in if in the area.

What could have been a disaster turned out to be an amazing experience. These guys went above and beyond to make our family of 12 some very happy walkers. So to set the scene, we arrived after a decent walk from Chipping Warden with some young kids on Christmas Eve. We had booked but there was a miscommunication of which day we were coming and they didn’t have a chef available due to a big party coming in later. So the owner a lovely lady stepped in and said she could make sandwiches for everyone, we thought that simple sandwiches would arrive but she made full on ham and cheese toasties with chips. We were all really impressed, and extremely grateful as it was a long walk back without food. There was a basic selection of beers but they had Doom bar and Neck Oil so we were happy. It turned out a lovely Christmas Eve surprise, so Thank you for going out of your way to accommodate us.
