The Blue Bell is York's smallest Public House with the only Grade II* Listed original Edwardian décor in the city.
The Blue Bell prides itself on being the smallest pub in York, but with the biggest heart. It has a Grade II* Listed, untouched Edwardian interior dating to 1903 and is included in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. The Blue Bell is also CAMRA's York Pub of the Season for Winter 2016/17.
With seven Cask Ales, two ciders and a great wine list to choose from it's difficult not to have a wonderful time in this quintessentially traditional English pub. Don't be expecting TV screens, music, games machines, cocktails or an extensive food menu - this pub is a proper pub for proper pub people. Our friendly atmosphere is second to none, helped by the House Rules of No Swearing, Shouting, Noisy Groups, Stags/Hens and Under 18s. So if you want to take a step back in time, enjoy a couple of award-winning ales and experience a proper English pub, The Blue Bell has everything you need.
A wonderfully tiny, cosy pub with plenty of character. Great for a drink with a friend. No groups allowed!
Total joy finding a pub like this. Totally traditional and how pubs should be. A very warm welcome, an excellent couple of pints and even a pork pie with my pint. A wonderfully enthusiastic owner and equally warm and welcoming staff. Everyone sat in the snug were chatting away to each other. It feels like stepping back in time. Total joy. Thank you Blue Bell…..
What a great pub! It's very small inside, but it means that you get to know the other patrons very quickly. Really great atmosphere, good choice of ale and I'll definitely be going again next time I'm in York.
Cracking pint of Guinness. I was recommended here for a good one it didn't disappoint, I was made to feel very welcome with the old folk, and the happy chap behind the bar was a true gentlemen (I believe the landlord), I will be back! (Edit I returned 2 days later and the Guinness was mind blowing, I also got lucky with the best seat in the pub, the little hatch beside the bar).
Excellent pub Good selection of ales, John landlord very friendly and made us most welcome. Dot a lovely barmaid who fully engaged herself with the customer's. Tiny rooms front and rear but great for conversation with the locals. Do visit you'll not be disappointed.
