Striking copper bar with leather club chairs and coin topped tables by the fireplace - enjoy drinks without dining. A great choice of wines, many by the glass, local craft beers, lagers & ciders, spirits & cocktails. Dogs are welcome in the bar.
The popular Seamer pub we know today as The Copper Horse hasn’t always been known by that name.
The Copper Horse was originally a farmhouse and outbuildings dating back to the 17th Century. It became a pub in the 1930’s called The White Horse, hence the name of the lane running alongside it, but when it was bought by England Rugby international and Scarborough Bookmaker, Leonard Price Stephens – it was re-named The Copper Horse, after a racehorse from some years earlier.
Since May 2005 The Copper Horse has been owned and run by the Thomas family, little has changed of the structure of The Copper Horse except for obvious and necessary modernization. In an interesting twist, it’s now decorated with newspaper cuttings, theatre memorabilia and posters from pantomimes put on round the country by its current owner, Nick Thomas.
Nick also started out as an entertainer when, as a young boy, his home-made puppets entertained thousands. Going from strength to strength, his company, QDOS is the world’s largest producer of pantomimes and is the second largest regional theatre operator in the country.

We had Sunday Lunch after reading the reviews and was very disappointed with the quality and portions and when we questioned The meal portions we were told that is it, We ordered mixed meat Sunday roast and got two palm sized pieces of (pork, tastless Beef dry and over cooked) meat. The veg came 1 plater between 3 We also ordered 2 portions of fries and received 1 plate and was told that was 2 portions, the staff weren't interested in anything we said and we were glad to get out and put it down to a bad experience.
Booked in online, this was a smooth process with no complications. We arrived 10 mins early and where show to our seat by a polite gentleman. The food and service was excellent throughout. I would recommend this pub for a nice meal after our experience.
Arrived ad hoc, bit late to book. Was welcomed and helped out with a great table. Prompt friendly service and as usual great food. Unfortunately prices are high just like most fine dining locations and the cost of living we are all dealing with but this is to be expected. Warm exceptionally clean and a polite team makes for a great evening. We will continue to visit and recommend.
We were very lucky to be taken for our lunch to the Copper Horse by our son and his partner. We went for Sunday lunch on a cold bright January day and the pub was warm, traditional and welcoming. The service team were excellent and extremely attentive. Our waitress was first class and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was very good with beef, pork, Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. The only reason I've given the food a score of four is that it could have been a bit warmer and the pork was slightly overcooked. Have to say though the beef was fab. We would definitely go back.
Went for Sunday lunch. Very accommodating even though we were a large table. Atmosphere is terrific, really impressive and enjoyable entertainment themed decor within a solid, wooden beamed and floorboards and lovely environment, with very comfortable furnishings throughout. Deceptively large interior. Really, really dependable Sunday lunch, great Yorkshire pudding and gravy, vegetable selection superb and perfectly cooked, tricky combo is that... Pudding looked great, especially brownie and crumbles but can't comment as the kids are the lot, so didn't get a look in. I'm not taking them next time. Staff very good, helpful not intrusive yet friendly, thanks all! Place is easy to find, has a quality website and ample parking. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close. Nice one!
