Formerly known as the 'Bird in Hand', The Countryman is a GRADE II listed building with parts dating back to the early 16th century.
The 'Bird in Hand' was closed by Watneys in 1971 and reopened as The Countryman, a freehouse in 1978. With additions to the existing building over the years, we now have two bar areas for eating and drinking plus a small seperate dining room.
Still privately owned and retaining a traditional pub atmosphere, we serve a variety of cask conditioned ales, chilled beers and a selection of quality wines.
For a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with warm and efficient service, why not join us here for a bite to eat or just a drink at The Countryman.
