My Shanghai in North Shields is an Oriental Bar and Buffet restaurant that opened in 2011. My Shanghai resides at the old Cannon Inn pub.
The restaurant offers a fusion of Eastern and Western foods ranging from Chinese, Japanese Sushi and even a carvery on Sundays. We offer comfortable, spacious seating areas for those looking to relax and simply enjoy a coffee, or indulge in a buffet feast.

Amazing. The best all you can eat I’ve ever ate at. This place has quality and price down to a tee, perfect balance of the two. 90% of chinese takeaways I have had are worse than this all you can eat set up, which is insane, I see why it’s so popular. Everything well labelled Well cooked Great tasting Amazing selection It’s also amazing for people watching, watched some bloke shovel away 6 heaped plates which he had to balance on the way back to his table, I could only watch in awe as he shoved prawn crackers into the back of his mouth like some jaw dislocating snake, bloke didn’t even chew. Suppose it’s testament to the food! Keep up the great work!!
Came here for lunch the other day.. amazing value for money.. food was hot, fresh and plentiful.. exactly what you expect from a Chinese buffet. Can’t wait to come back and try the evening menu
Plenty of choice. Food was hot and tasty. Staff were friendly and kept buffet food topped up. Definitely recommend a visit!
Gorgeous food as always. Amazing service. I went for my birthday. It never disappoints and has so much choice. Love it. Free parking too.
Great food, plenty choice. Empty plates are always cleared quickly and fresh food brought out all of the time I was there.
